Sheffield woman killed in 'targeted' stabbing

A 22-year-old woman has been stabbed to death in what police have described as a "targeted attack".

The victim, 22, was discovered at a property in Spotswood Close, in Gleadless Valley, Sheffield, at 08:15 BST but died later in hospital, police said.

A 37-year-old man from Colchester, Essex, has been arrested on suspicion of murder, South Yorkshire Police said.

He is being held in police custody, the force said.

Det Insp Steve Ashmore said the death was "extremely distressing".

A post-mortem examination is due to take place later, the force said.
