Two sprayed with petrol during Bentley bookmakers robbery

Two people were sprayed with petrol and threatened by a man in a balaclava during a robbery at a bookmakers.

A member of staff and a customer were covered with fuel before the suspect fled with a quantity of cash.

The raid happened at a branch of Mark Jarvis, in Bentley, near Doncaster, at about 17:40 BST on Tuesday.

South Yorkshire Police said the man was wearing a grey coat, blue jeans and black gloves. The force has appealed for witnesses.

Det Sgt Debra Renwick said: "Thankfully no one was hurt in the incident, however the victims were left shaken and I would urge any witnesses who may be able to assist with our investigation, to please contact us."
