Arrest after taxi hits two people in Stoke-on-Trent

A taxi driver has been arrested after a man and an 11-year-old boy were injured when they were hit by the vehicle.

They were crossing the road parallel to the A50, at the Longton exit in Stoke-on-Trent, when the incident happened at about 1420 BST on Wednesday.

The condition of the man, who had a head injury, was described as serious. The boy's head and leg injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

The taxi driver has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences.
