Boy, nine, seriously hurt in crash in Leek

A boy was seriously injured when he was hit by a car in Staffordshire.

Emergency services attended the scene after the incident in Spring Gardens, Leek, at about 0845 BST.

The boy, who is believed to be nine years old, suffered serious head injuries in the crash, West Midlands Ambulance Service said.

He was given emergency treatment at the scene before being airlifted to University Hospital North Staffordshire.

The driver of the car was not injured in the collision but suffered shock, the spokesman added.
