Ambulance and lorry collide in Alrewas

Two people have been seriously hurt in a collision between an ambulance and an articulated lorry in Staffordshire.

The crash happened in Kings Bromley Road, Alrewas, shortly before 1100 GMT.

An ambulance driver and her male colleague were freed from their vehicle with head, chest and leg injuries. The lorry driver was not hurt.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said the crew was on non-emergency duty at the time and had been travelling from Burton Hospital to standby at Rugeley.
