Hand grenade found at Newcastle-under-Lyme home
Houses have been evacuated in Staffordshire after a hand grenade was found at a house, police said.
Officers were called by a "concerned member of public" to an address in Albert Street, Chesterton, Newcastle-under-Lyme, shortly after midnight.
The Army bomb disposal squad moved the grenade to Chesterton Park where it was disposed of in a controlled explosion.
A man, 45, was arrested in connection with the incident and is still in police custody, the force added.
