Warning over litter at Stoke-on-Trent beauty spot

Environmental officers are warning people caught dropping litter at a beauty spot could be fined following complaints from visitors.

Stoke-on-Trent City Council has received complaints over Westport Lake about rubbish, bottles and cans dumped in and around the water.

Carol Gibbs, council environmental services manager, said maintenance teams clean the park regularly.

She said the council could take action against people caught dropping litter.

"We will be working with our enforcement team to try and ensure that when we work out exactly when the biggest problem is that we have people in there to issue fixed penalty notices if necessary, or even just to warn people in the first place."
