West Midlands Ambulance Service and the Midlands Air Ambulance was called to Glascote Road, Tamworth, shortly after 1535 BST on Friday.

A spokesman for the service said: "The eight-year-old boy had a head injury and abdominal and pelvic pain.

"He was immobilised with the use of a spinal board and neck collar and was flown to Birmingham Children's Hospital for further assessment and treatment."

He added: "A man, who was driving the car involved, and a woman, who was his passenger, were both assessed at the scene.
