Firefighters say they have surrounded the woodland fire at Kinver - but face remaining there until at least Saturday morning.

At the height of the incident, which began on Monday, eight fire engines were at Million Woods, Kinver.

About 70 acres of land has been damaged by the fire, which is burning in compacted moss deep underfoot as well as overground.

Four pumps remain at the scene and crews will be deployed overnight.

A Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: "We have got it surrounded now.

"I think we're all hoping for a heavy downpour soon."
