Staffordshire soldier charged with rape

A serving soldier from Staffordshire has been charged with raping a woman in Stoke-on-Trent at the weekend.

Nathan Chinn-Shaw, 25, is based at Catterick Garrison, a British Army barracks, in North Yorkshire.

He appeared at North Staffordshire Magistrates' Court charged with two counts of rape and one count of causing grievous bodily harm.

Mr Chinn-Shaw was remanded in custody until 23 May when he is due to appear at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.
