Man killed and three injured in M6 crash near Cannock
A man has been killed and three others injured in a crash involving a car and a van on the M6 in Staffordshire.
It happened at about 1300 BST on the northbound carriageway of the motorway at junction 11, near Cannock, close to where it meets the M6 Toll road.
A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said the motorway was closed to traffic to allow two air ambulances to land at the scene.
He said all four casualties were travelling in the same car.
"Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of ambulance crews arriving on scene, nothing could be done to save one male who was confirmed dead shortly after the arrival of the emergency services," he said.
"Two female casualties were stabilised at the scene before being airlifted to the University Hospital North Staffordshire.
"One patient suffered a head injury and the other received leg and pelvic injuries."
He added another woman had minor injuries and was treated at the scene before being placed on a spinal board with a neck collar as a precaution and taken to hospital.
