Stoke-on-Trent double fatal taxi crash men named

The names have been released of two men who died in a crash in Stoke-on-Trent involving a taxi and another car.

The crash, which happened on 28 May on Victoria Road, involved a blue Jaguar XK8 car and a grey Skoda Octavia taxi.

The taxi driver, who died at the scene, has been named as Tahlat Mahmood, 30, of Lightwood Road, in Normacot.

The back seat passenger of the taxi, who died in hospital, has been named as 29-year-old Lee Till, of Wigmore Place, in Longton.

Driver arrested

The front seat passenger of the taxi, a 31-year-old-man from Fenton, remains at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire in a stable condition.

The driver of the Jaguar XK8, a 24-year-old man from Trentham, also remains at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire in a stable condition.

Following the collision he was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He has been bailed pending further inquiries.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing and police want to hear from anyone with information.
