Man charged over Stoke-on-Trent shooting

A man has been charged with conspiracy to murder after a Staffordshire restaurant owner was shot in the leg.

Mohammed Afsar was shot in Chaplin Road, Normacot, Stoke-on-Trent, on 4 June 2010.

The 34-year-old man, from Small Heath, Birmingham, is due on Friday at North Staffordshire Magistrates' Court.

Four others charged with conspiracy to murder and two others with attempting to pervert the course of justice have pleaded not guilty, police said.

The six men, all from the Birmingham area, are due to go on trial at Stafford Crown Court on 31 October, the Staffordshire force added.

The case against another person who was charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice has been dropped.
