Stafford town centre affected by power cut
About 3,500 homes and businesses in Stafford have been affected by a power cut.
The lights went out at the headquarters of the borough and the county council, and Tipping Street and Greengate Street were also affected.
Power went off at 1300 BST and 500 of the customers were without electricity an hour later.
A spokesperson for Western Power Distribution said their power supplies should be restored by mid-afternoon.
Television and computer screens went blank and speakers were silent at a public inquiry into Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust, which is looking into monitoring by regulatory bodies after a higher-than-expected number of deaths between 2005 and 2008.
Inquiry chairman Robert Francis decided to carry on regardless, as the incident happened minutes before the end on Wednesday.
