Man charged after policeman fractures skull in Burton

A 37-year-old man has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm to a policeman whose skull was fractured.

Sean Peter Sales was charged after an incident in Horninglow Road, Burton upon Trent, overnight on Saturday.

He is also charged with two counts of causing actual bodily harm, common assault and resisting arrest and is due before Burton magistrates on Monday.

The 47-year-old Staffordshire police officer who was injured is in a stable condition in hospital.

A second person who was also hurt was treated for his injuries and later discharged from hospital.
