A gyrocopter pilot has been injured in a crash landing in Staffordshire.

The 45-year-old man was airlifted to hospital with a back injury after his aircraft came down in Rykneld Street, Fradley, just before 1430 BST.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said the gyrocopter clipped power cables on the way down.

The man, who had managed to get out, was flown to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. Extensive damage was caused to the back of the aircraft.
