Minworth crash: Man critically injured
A man has been seriously injured following a crash in Staffordshire where his car fell down an embankment.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the A38 in Minworth shortly before 11:30 BST on Monday.
An ambulance service spokeswoman said: "On arrival at the scene, crews found a car that had left the carriageway and was 20ft down an embankment."
She said a man in his 50s, who was the only person in the car, was trapped for an hour.
She added that once freed, the man received treatment for serious multiple injuries and was anaesthetised before being taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham by ambulance.
"The hospital was pre-alerted to the arrival of the man and of his injuries. At arrival at hospital the man's condition was described as critical," she said.
