Ash Bank incident leaves man in 'critical' condition

A 56-year-old man is in hospital after being hit by a car in Stoke-on-Trent.

Staffordshire Police were called to Ash Bank Road near the Ash Bank Hotel near Werrington at 21:45 BST on Saturday.

A spokesman for the police said the man had been left seriously injured after the incident involving a silver Vauxhall Vectra.

He was taken to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire and remains in a "stable but critical" condition. An investigation has begun.

Witnesses with information have been asked to call the police.
