Stoke-on-Trent three-vehicle crash leaves woman dead

A woman has been killed in a three-vehicle crash in Stoke-on-Trent.

A Citroen C3 was travelling along Shelton New Road when it collided with a Vauxhall Zafira at the junction of Brick Kiln Lane at 11:50 BST on Monday.

The Citroen then collided with an 18-tonne lorry near the junction of the A500 slip road, police said.

The Citroen driver, Audrey Dickinson, 80, from Newcastle-under-Lyme, was confirmed dead at the scene. No other drivers were hurt.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "The elderly woman driving the car had suffered serious injuries and was in traumatic cardiac arrest.

"Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of ambulance crews, nothing could be done to save the woman."

Witnesses to the crash have been asked to contact Staffordshire Police.
