Rape trial involving serving soldier starts in Stoke

A serving soldier from north Staffordshire has gone on trial, accused of raping a woman twice in Stoke-on-Trent.

Nathan Chinn-Shaw, 25, is based at Catterick Garrison, a British Army barracks in North Yorkshire.

He denies two charges of rape and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The jury was sworn in at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Monday and the trial is expected to last for three days.
