An investigation has begun into the death of man from Staffordshire who was found outside his home with a head injury.

Richard Sedgley, 37, was discovered outside Woottons Court in the Stoney Croft area of Cannock on the morning of 5 November.

He died in the University Hospital of North Staffordshire two days later.

A post-mortem examination confirmed that the head injury was the cause of his death.

Ch Insp Carl Ratcliffe, Staffordshire Police's local policing commander for Cannock Chase, said they were trying to establish Mr Sedgley's movements before he was taken to hospital.

"I would urge anyone who has any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to contact us as it may help us in building a clear picture of Richard's last few days.

"We're now awaiting the results of several medical tests which will hopefully help us establish how he came to be injured."
