Appeal after medals stolen from house in Stafford

Police are appealing for help to find eight World War I medals that were stolen from a home in Stafford.

The medals were displayed in a wooden picture frame and were mounted on red velvet, with ribbons underneath them.

Two of the medals are star-shaped and are called Mons Stars; the other six are round. All medals feature the surnames Barks and Whittle.

Burglars entered the house in Creswell Grove between 10:15 and 20:00 GMT on Sunday 6 November.

Det Con Jon Stephenson, who is investigating the burglary, in which a television and jewellery were also taken, said: "We are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

"These medals are of great sentimental value to the victim who would dearly like to be reunited with them."
