Slovakian couple from Crewe deny slavery charges

A Slovakian couple living in Cheshire have denied slavery charges and trafficking two homeless Slovakian men.

Andrej Karicka, 38, and Sylvia Karickova, 36, of Monarch Close, Crewe, denied six charges at Chester Crown Court.

The court heard the couple found jobs for men but kept their wages.

Both deny holding another person in slavery or servitude and charges of facilitating entry into the UK of a person intending to exploit him.

Ms Karickova also denied possessing criminal property.

The two, who are on conditional bail, return to court for a preliminary hearing on 18 January.
