Man dies following Stoke-on-Trent canal rescue

A man pulled out of a canal near Stoke-on-Trent died later in hospital, West Midlands Ambulance Service has said.

Emergency services were called to Limekiln Lane, Kidsgrove, during Saturday evening after reports of a man in a canal.

An ambulance service spokesman said fire crews found and rescued the man, but he needed life support help at the scene.

He was taken to hospital but was confirmed dead shortly after arrival.
