Man dies after being hit by HGV on M6 in Staffordshire
A man has died in a collision involving a lorry on the M6 in Staffordshire.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was alerted at around 19:00 GMT on Wednesday to reports that a pedestrian had been hit by a lorry.
It is believed that the man had stopped on the hard shoulder of the M6 northbound, between junctions 15 and 16, and got out of his vehicle.
An ambulance and doctors attended but he was confirmed dead at the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "Crews arrived to find the driver of a car that is believed to have stopped on the hard shoulder of the motorway and got out of his vehicle. The man had then been in collision with a passing HGV.
"Unfortunately it quickly became apparent that nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead at the scene."
