The death of an 18-year-old woman in Stoke-on-Trent is being treated as unexplained, Staffordshire Police have said.

The woman has been formally identified as Victoria Heaton.

She was found dead at her flat in Leacroft Road in Meir on Tuesday.

Insp Chris Harrington said: "Although we're still awaiting the test results, our inquiries so far lead us to believe that Victoria was not murdered."

Staffordshire Police said a post-mortem examination by a Home Office pathologist on Wednesday was inconclusive and further tests are being carried out.

Forensics officers are continuing to carry out an examination of the flat.

Police sealed off the flat at about 17:00 GMT on Tuesday after a visitor to the flat found the body.
