A man has died after being knocked down by a car in Stoke-on-Trent.

Police say the pedestrian, 66, had been hit by a gold-coloured Toyota Yaris at the junction of King Street and Goldenhill Road, in Fenton, at about 20:55 GMT on Tuesday.

The car was in the process of turning right into Goldenhill Road when the collision occurred.

The man sustained serious head injuries and died later at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire.

Sgt Ian Revans, from Staffordshire Police, said: "I would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the vehicle travelling along King Street prior to the collision, together with any other witnesses who may have been present at the scene and have not yet come forward."
