A man and woman found dead at a house in Staffordshire are believed to have been a couple who lived at the property.

Police said they believed the bodies found at a house in Ness Grove, Cheadle, on Monday were Mark Chandler, 42, and Karen Climpson, 46.

They have not yet been formally identified and the deaths are being treated as "unexplained".

Police said forensic officers were examining the house.

Insp Clare Riley said it was an "isolated incident involving people who were in a relationship".

Insp Riley said a detailed investigation was being carried out by detectives to "determine exactly what has happened at the property".

Post-mortem examinations were due to take place later and on Wednesday.
