Armed police and negotiators have confirmed that a second stand-off in Stoke-on-Trent has ended safely.

They were called to Aster Close in Weston Coyney on Thursday at approximately 23:30 GMT after reports of a domestic incident.

Police said that no-one was hurt and they had arrested a 38-year-old man in relation to a firearms offence.

A separate incident in the Shelton area of the city lasted three days and led to the arrest of a 66-year-old man.

Inspector Chris Harrington said: "Neighbourhood officers will now remain in the community to support local resident as the area returns to normal.

"Whilst I recognise that the last few days have seen two armed incidents in Stoke-on-Trent, the overall number of firearms related incidents continues to fall."
