Stoke stand-off: Man charged with firearms offence

A 38-year-old man who was arrested after a stand-off in Stoke-on-Trent has been charged with a firearms offence.

Armed police and negotiators were called to Aster Close, in Weston Coyney, on the evening of 5 January after reports of a domestic incident.

A man was arrested the next day when the incident was brought to a close. Nobody was injured.

A police spokeswoman said he had been charged with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

He is due to appear at North Staffordshire Magistrates' Court on Monday.
