A former town hall in Staffordshire could "potentially become a public house or a restaurant" now it has been put up for sale.

The building in Burslem, which was once home to the Ceramica pottery exhibition, is also Grade II* listed.

Rob Elliott from estate agent Butters John Bee said it could "potentially be used by retailers or for leisure uses, maybe even pub or restaurant".

It is being sold on behalf of Stoke on Trent City Council.

Mr Elliott added: "Because of the sheer scale of the building and its prominent location, we do expect national interest as well."

Ceramica shut in March 2011 after its council funding was withdrawn.

Along with the main town hall building, the adjacent modern building is also available for those wanting the long leasehold.
