David Heath dies after assault in Stoke-on-Trent

A 46-year-old man has died three weeks after being assaulted outside a pub in Stoke-on-Trent.

David Heath, of Uttoxeter Road, Longton, had been in hospital since the incident, but died on Sunday.

He was found with serious injuries outside the Newtown pub in Fenton at around 01:30 GMT on 13 January.

A 43-year-old man has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and is due to appear at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on 2 April.

A post-mortem examination carried out on Tuesday proved inconclusive. Staffordshire Police have made a fresh appeal for witnesses.
