Tutbury man dies after being hit by car

A 57-year-old man has died after being hit by a car in east Staffordshire.

David Kirkpatrick, from Tutbury, was found in Burnside, Rolleston-on-Dove, at about 22:30 GMT on Sunday.

He was taken by ambulance to Queen's Hospital in Burton-on-Trent with serious head injuries, but died on arrival.

A local man in his 70s was arrested in connection with the incident and has now been released on bail pending further inquiries.

Access to Burnside, between its junction with Station Road and Elizabeth Avenue, was closed off for several hours while specialist officers examined the scene.

Staffordshire Police appealed for witnesses to come forward. Mr Kirkpatrick had been wearing dark clothes and it is believed he had been walking near a social club at the time of the crash.
