Colton villagers await return of phone services after theft
Some telephone services in a Staffordshire village should return on Monday after cable was stolen, BT said.
The theft of 1,200m (4,000ft) of cable happened in the Colton Road area of Colton at about 01:05 GMT on Friday.
BT said 57 faults had been reported and it has to reconnect each customer one at a time.
Replacement cable was put in the ground on Saturday and work was being carried out on Sunday to connect sections of cable together.
Service providers will be able to help with practical measures, including putting diverts in place to alternative numbers such as mobiles, while repairs are being undertaken, BT said.
