A bomb disposal team has been called out to Staffordshire to tackle what is thought to be a World War II grenade.

Staffordshire Police said the device was discovered on Sutherland Drive in the Westlands, Newcastle-under-Lyme shortly before 10:00 BST.

The team removed the object with the aid of a robot. A controlled explosion will be carried out off-site.

Police said the area had not been evacuated and there was no danger to the public.
