Plans have been unveiled for a £5m workshop and office complex in Staffordshire, which is expected to lead to more than 130 new jobs.

The IC5 centre will be built at Keele University Science and Business Park, near Newcastle-under-Lyme, in a partnership with the county council.

Already home to 42 companies, the latest centre is due to open next year.

Developers are expected to target, among others, start-up and international technology firms.

They said the new centre, the fifth of its kind at the site, would be equipped with high-speed broadband, while one floor was specifically designed to accommodate laboratories.

Tenants will also have access to the university's academic and research facilities.

The local authority and the university said they were negotiating with a lead tenant, before work could start.
