Stoke-on-Trent city councillor charged with theft
A Stoke-on-Trent city councillor has been charged with theft.
West Midlands Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said it had authorised Staffordshire Police to charge Matthew Fry, 32, with four counts of theft.
A CPS spokeswoman said there was sufficient evidence and that it was in the public interest to charge the Labour councillor for Weston Coyney.
Mr Fry is due to appear at North Staffordshire Justice Centre, Newcastle-under-Lyme, on 24 April.
Staffordshire Police said the alleged thefts took place between August and January.
