Silverdale £1.5m community project starts

Work has started on a project to create a community centre and football pitches in Staffordshire.

The £1.5m facilities, being built in Silverdale at a former colliery, should be usable by mid October, Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council said.

They will include dressing rooms, storage areas and the community room, with space for up to 70 people.

Silverdale Athletic FC will help with the site's day-to-day running as it works in partnership with the council.
