A50 death as pedestrian hit by lorry

A woman has died after being hit by a lorry in Staffordshire, police have said.

The crash happened at 03:18 BST on the eastbound carriageway of the A50 at its junction with A500 at Longton.

Staffordshire Police said the woman, who has not been named, died at the scene of the accident.

The eastbound carriageway of the A50 was closed to traffic while police began an investigation, a spokesperson said.
