Man dies after three-car crash on A5 in Staffordshire

A man has died following a crash involving three cars on the A5 in Staffordshire.

The crash happened at about 11:20 BST at Norton Canes, West Midlands Ambulance Service said.

One of the drivers was pronounced dead at the scene after being thrown from his vehicle. A second driver was taken to hospital with a head injury.

A family of four travelling in the third car were not injured in the crash, the ambulance service said.

A spokesman said two of the cars had sustained "substantial damage".

The road has been closed in both directions.
