Cyber attack on Home Office website denied by Stoke man

A man has denied a cyber-attack on websites belonging to the Home Office and Home Secretary Theresa May.

Mark Johnson, 44, of Josiah Wedgwood Street, Stoke-on-Trent, pleaded not guilty to encouraging or assisting in a Distributed Denial Of Service (DDoS) attack on the websites.

The websites were taken offline between 15 and 18 June 2012, prosecutors said.

Mr Johnson was bailed at Birmingham Crown Court and a trial was fixed for 3 November.

A DDoS attack floods a web server with so many requests that it can no longer respond to legitimate users.
