Two police officers have been injured in a crash during a high speed chase on the M6 Toll motorway in Staffordshire.

The patrol car they were in collided with an MG that was driving at about 90mph between junctions T6 at Weeford and T8 for Brownhills, police said.

The officers were not seriously hurt and the car driver, 23, injured his leg. All three were taken to hospital.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving while under the influence of drink or drugs.

He was also detained for failing to stop, police said.

The Central Motorway Police said it began following the MG ZR at about 09:45 BST when it was seen driving "erratically".

A rolling road block was put in place and the second time officers tried to stop the car it collided with the police BMW, it said.

Both cars crashed into the central reservation and ended up on the embankment.
