Port Vale v Stoke City legends match helps dementia carers

Money raised at a charity football game has helped open a cafe where carers can get support and respite care.

The game, played in May between "legends" sides from Port Vale and Stoke City raised funds for Approach, a charity for people with dementia.

The charity said carers will also be able to arrange to leave a relative at the cafe for a couple of hours.

It will open every second Saturday of the month at the Triumphant Church on City Road, Fenton.

The cafe was opened by former Stoke City and England player Mike Pejic, whose mother has Alzheimer's.
