Tamworth woman's 'suspicious' death probed

A man has been arrested after the "suspicious" death of a woman at an address in Tamworth.

Staffordshire Police were called to Cross Street at about 04:20 GMT, where officers found the 50-year-old victim had collapsed.

They later arrested the 38-year-old suspect in connection with the death. He remained in custody for questioning, the force said.

Forensic teams are investigating the scene, which has been cordoned off.

A force spokesman said: "The Home Office post-mortem examination established that the cause of death was multiple head injuries.

"Staffordshire Police's Major Investigation Department continues to investigate the murder."
