Two schools affected by snow on Wednesday have re-opened in Staffordshire.

The Abbey Hill School & Performing Arts College in Meir, Stoke-on-Trent, and Ilam C of E Primary, were closed following heavy snowfall in parts of the county.

The A53 was shut for several hours near the village of Flash, on the Staffordshire Moorlands.

A yellow weather warning for snow and ice remains in place for the area.

Snow also made conditions difficult on the A521 Delphouse Road, on Wednesday morning, with a number of lorries becoming stuck.
