Darren Neil Rook in court on police officer murder attempt charge

A man has appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of a police officer in Stafford.

Darren Neil Rook, 34, is accused of attacking a Staffordshire Police officer in January after she approached him because he was registered as a missing person.

Mr Rook, of no fixed abode, who has not yet entered a plea, appeared at Cannock Magistrates' Court.

He was told he would remain in custody until his next court appearance.

He is due to appear at Stafford Crown Court on 30 January.
