Boy, 10, seriously hurt in crash in Stafford

A boy aged 10 suffered serious head injuries when he was hit by a car in Stafford.

The child was flown by air ambulance to hospital in Birmingham after the incident in Newport Road.

Emergency services were called at 15:40 GMT to treat the boy who was hit by the side of a BMW 1 series car.

"His injuries are currently described as serious and potentially life changing," said police, who have appealed for witnesses.

Newport Road will remain closed while an investigation takes place.
