Cheshire police officer charged with Nantwich assault

A Cheshire police officer has been charged with assault following an investigation by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).

PC Matthew James Ambrose is accused of assaulting a 19-year-old man during an arrest in Swine Market in Nantwich on 1 November last year.

Mr Ambrose, based at Nantwich police station, is due to appear at Manchester City Magistrates' Court on 27 May.

The force confirmed an officer has been suspended pending court proceedings.
