Mother's tribute to Stoke crash son Kayden Dunn, 7

A mother has paid tribute to her "much loved" seven-year-old son who died five days after he was hit by a car.

Kayden Dunn, of Fitzherbert Road, Sneyd Green, Stoke-on-Trent, was struck by a Volvo XC90 on 14 April.

He died on Tuesday at Birmingham Children's Hospital surrounded by his family.

His mother Tonie thanked relatives and members of the community for their sympathy and support following the tragedy.

The accident happened in Repington Road, near its junction with Bagot Grove, Sneyd Green, at 17:00 BST.

The driver, a man in his 20s from Stoke, was uninjured.

In a statement released by his mother on behalf of the family, she said: "We are very sad to announce the passing of our much loved son Kayden Dunn.

"We would like to thank family, friends and all of the caring people in our community for their much appreciated best wishes and support they have given us at this sad time.

"I would like to ask that our family's private time be respected and for us to be allowed to grieve and remember Kayden in our own special way."

Staffordshire Police's regional collision investigation unit is asking witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
