Five killed on M6 in Staffordshire named

Five people who were killed in a crash with a lorry on the M6 in Staffordshire have been named by police.

The four women and a man were all from Romania but living in Stoke-on-Trent.

They have been named as Marius Zevian, aged 45, Cucoana Zevian, 49, Gheorghita Radu, 56, Nicoleta-Marinela Florea, 42 and Marcela Sandu, 34.

The lorry driver was arrested after the crash, which happened early on Wednesday between junction 15 for Stoke-on-Trent and 14 for Stafford.

The 60-year-old, from the West Midlands, was detained on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has since been released under investigation.

A 37-year-old man, who was in the front seat of the car, is in a serious but stable condition at Royal Stoke University Hospital.

The Romanian Embassy has been informed.
